#Installing PPP & AmiTCP
I seem to be having trouble getting on to the internet through Compuserve. I
followed the instructions given in a file I downloaded here by Erich Kuester in
which he gets you started with AmiTCP.4.0demo and PPP130 but this is what I get
in the popped up screen when I execute startnet;
—————————————- ATDT16174269295
| CONNECT | 'CONNECT' received OK
| SEND " " | WAIT "e:"
|
19200 | Hoot Naie:
|
| 'e:' received OK
| SEND "CIS" | WAIT "D:"
| Uoer ED: |
| 'D:' received OK
| SEND "71216,755/GO:PPPCONNECT" | WAIT "d:"
| Paoowora: -GI:PPPAINNAAO |
—————————————-
and the window just hangs until it times out. It looks for the small "d:" at
the end of "Password:" but the screen isn't printing that.
(in case you can't see them as I see them on my amiga's screen since I uploaded
this message as a file, there are strange looking characters with funny symbols
on the top of some lower case letters)
These strange letters come up the same every time. They look like german
symbols but I have my language set as english and American keyboard in my
preferences. I have 19200 set in my serial preferences and the same in my
ppp0.config so no conflict there.
I have an Amiga 2000HD, a SupraTurbo accellerator, Workbench 3.1, a ZOOM 14400
modem and NO special graphics card. I'm calling Boston MA. I have no trouble
using Baudbandit or JrComm. Whats happening? I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
MDEVOE
PS: I also tried the iNTERiNSTALL1.52 by Chris Laprise. It came up with
the same characters but continued pass the "Password:" prompt since
his script only looked for ":" but it came up with a small window
after a while that said "PPP FAILED!" and exited.
