I'm running into a problem adding a new SCSI hard drive to my system. I'm trying to add a 540 MB Fujitsu FJ1603S harddrive to my A2000, which already has a 105 MB Quantum drive. The controller is a Supra WordSync Series II. (yes, I know that's quite old 🙂 I can't get the controller to accept and format the new drive. I cabled the new drive to the controller at the end of the SCSI chain, removed the termination from the Quantum (SCSI ID#0), and set the new drive to be ID#1. The system came up fine, and the SCSI_lister program shows the right drives at the right addresses. The problem is that I can't get access to the new drive. When I run SupraFormat, it sees both drives, but complains that it can't read the configuration off the new drive. When I try to manually set the drive type, the list of stock drive types it presents is too old to contain the Fujitsu or anything similar, and it won't let me enter the necessary settings directly. When I try HDToolbox (AmigaOS 2.04), I run into more problems. The program never has particularly liked the WordSync. In the past, it has always presented a requester upon start-up saying something about the drive information having changed, then when I cancel that, it shows both the Quantum at ID 0 LUM 0 and another, "Unknown" device at ID 0 LUM 1 (where no device exists). Now that I added the Fujitsu, HDToolbox is still showing the exact same thing, not even acknowledging the Fujitsu's existence at ID 1. Thus, I have a problem. The Supra software is too old and seemingly inflexible, and the Commodore utility doesn't like the controller. Can anyone suggest a solution, preferably that doesn't involve buying a new SCSI interface board? — Matthew Rimer 73500,1167
