I'd use fract.pxp which comes with Silicon Garden by the Yost Group. There's
probably other ways of doing it with and without plug-ins. Displace would
probably work and allow interactivity too. Another way would be to select
vertices and then tessalate the cube. Then invert the selection and move the
new vertices outward. Repeat until you roughened it up to your satisfaction.
