#PVR How everybody doing

My opinion is that you cannot beat the PVR from a hardware standpoint: the video quality and performance is better than any compression hardware I've seen, and I've seen a lot of them by now. (Keep in mind that the PVR produces video which is REALLY up to D1 standards!) The fact that the device is so cheap only improves the value. The main problem with the PVR at this point is that the software which DPS has provided is so UNBELIEVABLY awful, it'll make your brain throb. The Windows 3.1 software (all that is currently shipping) has a bizarre interface with countless omissions and quirks (the DOS PAR software was much more practical) and the NT software (alpha/beta) is interesting, but has a long ways to go. With a little discipline, you can, however, get work done. Use of third-party software such as Razor is probably advisable. Martin
