Gus, and all, I just wanted to thank you and everyone for your help on my hard disk problem, and all the other information you shared about hard disks in general! It finally turned out to be a HD Controller card doing intermittent stuff. Of the two drives I had, the one I didn't mess with, was almost flawless when I put in a new (different) controller card. The other one (the one I messed with) had to be reformatted. I used Norton "NDD" to "fix" the fact is was not bootable at one point, and all FAT information was lost (but it would boot!) :-). As you said, it truly would be like putting a 10000 piece puzzle together. And all the pieces look like "0"'s or "1"'s. Not quite, but close. I lost a few crosslinked files, but very minimal. Thanks for your help though! It will be remembered for other future problems. Knock on wood. It is so nice to have my computer back! 🙂 Dennis
