I find it difficult to send any message to somebody who won't give their name for no sensible reason (sysop: dont' we have a forum rule against that). But, I thought I would reply to one thing: >> Still, though, I can't think of ANY effect that would REQUIRE VARY.SXP. Can you? << Of course I can. yes, you can use animated mapping instead but the speed and flexibility that vary.sxp allows makes it invaluable especially as you can't morph materials on .axp's like particle systems. I used it in the movie "Virtuosity" where it would have been extremely tedious to create all the different animated maps I needed – about 12 different ones – for controlling fades on particle systems. The speed in which I could just drag and drop vary.sxp into a material slot (particularly opacity and mask slots) and type in the start and end frame simply makes it peerless in this regard. Bottom line: it can be a huge timesaver and I wouldn't want to do without it.
