Jerry: Sorry, I live in Los Angeles. It's to bad, because I would love to show you exactly what I am talking about. A demonstration is definatly preferable in this case to an explanation. But I'll give it a try: First, like Tim said, editing is a trial and error process. If your trying for a gold medal you won't get one for editing. perfection in techunique I don't think that any client will hold a grudge if you have to adjust an edit point. It's a little zen. If you just do it a few times it will become much easier. I don't want this to be a overview of editing so I will try to keep it brife. In your golf example, I will asume that you wish to make the edit and the point were the club hits the ball (easy) and somewhere in mid swing (slightly less easy). One thing that I have heard peopl complain about the Flyer is the annoying motion in the frames while you are scrubing thrrough the edit panals. This motion can actualy be a benifit. If you want to cut from Camera 1 to Camera 2 at the Frame that the club hits the ball. In Clip 1, simply set your out point to the first frame that the ball is moving (or jerking back and forth). then go back one click on the arrow button. Now go to the second clip. Set your In-Point to the first frame that the ball is shaking back and forth. A perfect match and you dont have to see the previous clip. Ok that was pertty obvious, I'll admit. Now if you want to cut the shot somwhere in the middle of the swing (though, in this instnce that may not be the best choice, but for arguments sake we'll do it). As the club swings down the whole motion cannot take more that 3/4 to 1 full second. that means 30 frames of motion, Because the Flyer uses Color Frames instead, that means 15 differant posible edit points. As you scrub thru the first shot. You pick where you want the edit to happen. Any old random place will do. Just look at where the club is it at 11 o'clock, 9 o'clock, 7 o'clock? Maybe I just have an editors Eye. I can't really explan it. You just look at it. I can always get within one color frame and I usualy get it right on the first try. I don't know what else to say. I'm glad the "tail-on" feature is being implamented, and I may find a use for it. But I just can not agree with your claim that you can't cut action on Flyer4.0x. I wish I could have been more help.
