#Glowing Think Ideas?
Hi: I'm working on a project at work where I'm modeling an inductively heated
block of carbon that goes from cold (a semi-shiny black) to a brignt
incandescent yellow color. I'm doing a morph from the black to an intermediate
glowing red to the final yellow color.
That works fine but… When an object gets that hot it should emit light, and
that light should show up on the nearby objects. I can get the glow in the
material itself by making it self-illuminating but I'm having trouble getting
the light to look right on the other objects.
I've used an omni light that changes color along with the carbon block, but
without shadow casting light ends up in strange places. My current option is to
use a set of 5 spotlights set up to just barely overlap.
It's running now (so I haven't seen it) but I can't get it to run with
ray-traced shadows (I get a page fault on the first field).
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get the effect that I need?
Thanks,
Chris
