PharLap swapfile problem
I have a render farm going using 3DS R4, but there's a problem that occurs on
several of the slave machines. During the render of the first frame, I get
booted back to dos with hte following message:
Phar Lap fatal error 10037: 386|VMM: Error writing swap file
Sometimes "reading" is substituted for "writing". Both machines have plenty of
disk space free (over 500 megs in both cases; most slave machines on the farm
work well with 200 megs or less), and scandisk reports no problems with either
drive. Both are running with ultra clean boot disks (no memory managers,
etc.). To make this even more perplexing, one of the machines has actually
been running just fine for many weeks; last night it crashed with this error,
and now the error is consistent (it will no longer render at all).
The machine that was working fine naturally chose a critical moment to develop
this problem, and I'd really rather not be without it this weekend. I doubt
very much that our dealer will be able to offer us any help (I'm told they
never know the answers to our technical questions), although I'm desperate
enough to try there as well. If someone at Autodesk could PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
give me a call about this, I'd really appreciate it. I'll even name my first
born after you, regardless of gender :-). [D [D [D [D [D [D
Thanks very much in advance for the help.
