to someone who has a pentium–will the ani automatically speed up on their
faster pc? <<
there are a lot of factors which determine playback speed with animator pro,
ed. here are a few:
1) in general, a pentium will playback a flc faster than a 486 BUT playback is
also determined by individual components other than the processor speed.
2) playback is determined in a large part by the speed of the harddrive (access
time)
3) playback can be determined by the amount of available RAM. an extreme
example of this is that the ANIPLAY player utility can use scripts which can
preload entire flics into RAM so that the harddrive is not even touched (if the
flic will fit in the available RAM)
4) a RAMdisk can be used for playback without harddrive access (if the flic(s)
will fit in the 16MB limit)
5) video RAM and video card acceloration can affect playback speed.
in other words… its not enough to gage behavior with processor. it also
depends on availability and usage of RAM, hard drive access speed, and graphics
hardware enhancements.
