The problem is, I _began_ by attaching cable and drive both, expecting to get the animated "insert a disk" screen. But I didn't get that; not only with just the cable attached but also with both cable and drive attached. The other thing I didn't expect was to have more pins on the drive than I have receptables on the cable! I realize now that I didn't try it with a disk in the drive. Could it possibly boot in that situation, without its even showing me the animated screen? Thanks again for your help, Malcolm
