Hi Albert,
i don't think animator studio and mania are very comparable. mania runs under
Win NT and Win 3.xx. It's rather a 2.5 d composing and sfx package. You cannot
paint cels in it. What it rathers does: You give it sequences of images, or
avis,
or txt or whatever. You add several layers. then you can add animated effects
like warp filters, all kind of photoshop-alike filters (Bitmap-manipulations,
transform filters), make one actor cloned 80 times to generate mass scenes,
morph layer into another, move and scale and rotate (2.5d) them, accelerate or
slow down their timing and so on and so on. look at the sgi type of software
like eddie or matador. User-interface and Speed are very cool. It's a real cute
program, and i suppose after 3ds bringing a class of software to the pc
(3d-animation) mania does that with the classic 2.5d composers. I don't know
about an u.s. representative, but here in germany, the program will start
delivering in some weeks, so i suppose you didn't miss something yet. If you
think that this forum is the wrong place for the discussion, then we should
switch to private for further e.
Bye
