Considering an uninteruptable power source for my own system….
Starting with a 12 volt, 6 amp motorcycle battery, float charged; providing dc
to standard three-terminal regulators of the 78xx family, then to cables which
go to the power jack on each computer, and the disc drive. Also to a modified
high-intensity lamp.
In the event of power failures, you are still running…. Would eliminate the
potential worst case; power loss during a disk save, which could wipe out an
entire disk.
With this low-voltage equipment, it's feasible.
