Thanks… Dave Thomas already told me about CONFER.HLP, and I have it now.
Sorry I missed the CO! I pulled out an old 1978 CMOS Cookbook right after
getting youse last message, and that was the end….
I believe 8 relays could be controlled in all their possible configurations
with only a single OUT X,0-255 (or PRINT#X,…). I want to produce an 8-bit
parallel output from a byte sent out the RS232. Each of the 8 bits would be
assigned its own relay to control. One or two of the relays can be used as
computer-controlled transfer switches for the RS232 data lines. Can use the
built-in cassette relay to select/deselect the relay box. The relay box
switches the RS232 lines, then the program deselects the relay box and begins
communicating with the newly selected RS232 device. Allows the 100 to
communicate with the relay box, serial printer, other computers, speech
synthesizer, and an analog-digital converter (w/ BSR interface) too. And also
to control the power supplies of each. ALL WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING EXCEPT
THE KEYBOARD!!! Or under program control! (The circle will be complete when
we get an affordable speech recognition system.)
Sixteen relays could be controlled with only 2 bytes. (Or is my math off?)
Or they could still be controlled by a single byte using 2 (8-relay) banks.
