is, what's the big deal? 🙂
It doesn't seem fair to explain magic in a way that depends on "magical power";
how then does the treatise explain the latter? My preference is that fantasy
authors should _not_ attempt to explain magic; there's too much danger of
crossing the line from good fantasy into execrable science fiction in doing so.
Besides, it takes the magic out of it somehow.
I agree, it's a blurry line. A lot of the best lines are.
