Barry, there are two emulators that I know of, called GO 64 and RUN 64. The one I am more familiar with is RUN 64, which is marketed by a company called ReadySoft. It is all software except, as you say, for a 64 serial cable with an Amiga parallel connector at one end. I believe the type of file transfers you're talking about could be readily achieved with that emulator, although a null modem cable would be a more straightforward approach if you don't want the emulator for anything else. The deluxe route would be to get an Amiga 5 1/4" disk and the Disk-2-Disk software for reading and writing 1541 format files on the Amiga, but that would cost you more than a printer for your Amiga.
