#No 68060?
With IBM/Apple/Motorola jointly developing the PPC, I wonder if it is available
to outsiders without some sort of "buy-in".
I have no information that any roalties or buy-in is required, I'm just
wondering if there is some sort of requirement, since it was supposed to be IBM
and Apple's special weapon.
Then again, with the current sales figures, they may be willing to bring
anybody onboard who is willing to adopt the architecture.
As for making PPC Amigas… Most likely it would break all the games and
other hardware dependent software. Since I already own two Amigas, and don't
play all that many games… (Though Donkey Kong Country on SNES has some
really pretty graphics.) … it wouldn't be all that big of a deal to me. I
want horsepower for rendering and DTP.
Actually, I'll be really happy if someone just manages to put the machine back
into production, and establishes some sort of creditable production and
marketing scheme. The chances of which seem ever more remote, day by day.
Personally I think the former C= UK should get an award for the most victory
announcements. I believe the first victory party was announced for last
October. Their going to have some fine aged Champagne by the time it's over.
