<grin> <I hadda do it> Yeah, the first 500 we got in here, the supply was dead. Since I had been inside the 500 out of curiosity before I even _tried_ to use it, I wasn't reticent to dig into the power supply when it wouldn't run. It had a broken pcb (not where it would electrically damage the supply) it had little solder blobs rattling around inside and stuck to some components, the little daughter boards are attached in such a way as to render the supply unserviceable, and mechanical support fort the heat sinking on the power devices was provided by the leads on a power-tab package. I was horrified to see this… I put it down to CBM, again. The real techies get to design the computer, because no one inside CBM proper has the know-how. (Evidenced by the fact that the design evolved not at all over three years) I figure some bean counter specified that particular piece of chip and we reaped the benefits. –Ben–
