Bye Bye Max
Howdy, just thought I'd put my two cents in. I agree that Max was very cool
show but there was no way it could make it on mainstream network TV – the
american audience doesn't react well (at first) to radically different shows
and the execs give only 6 weeks for a show to make it. If ABC would take a
chance and let the show run a full season, I'll bet the ratings would improve
as more people got used to it. Anyway, if you really feel so strongly about
these shows then WRITE THE NETWORKS they air on. Believe it or not, execs
actually listen to viewers. A great example is Late Night with David
Letterman: If memory serves me correctly, Letterman had a day time show about 6
years ago that was on for a summer and bombed horribly. Various viewers wrote
and the execs figured out where the show would do best – voila! Writing may
not save MAX on ABC but it very well might help it be picked up on cable by
Cinemax or USA. So, give it a shot. (Time to step down from the soap box)
Cheers,
John
