Betty – that's a simplistic way of excusing a bad situation; and in fact,
CBM has "done it right" so rarely with the Amiga that I would say there is
no current experience with the first example ("wrong if they do") so we
have no IDEA how the user base would react if they brought us some fabulous
update to either hardware or software, or if they did any set or subset of
the things they have promised to do for us.
They could fix the bugs in the system and I wouldn't mind.
They could bring out that PAL based accelerator they promised;
They could bring out the memory for the sidecar;
They could support the a1000 users;
They could make developer support affordable for the little guys;
They could advertise (HAH!)
They could bring out some competative ms-dross hardware;
They could get microsloth to fix the basic;
They could make a decisive move re ARexx and ARP.
They could release the (rumored) middle machine;
They could release the long-phosphor monitor;
They could release the hi-res (stupid-mode) monitor;
They could actually give a modern 32 bit bus design (compatible);
If they would do some of these things, PARTICULARLY advertise, there would
be some data for the damned if they do. In general, they don't – so I have
them damned on one leg only.
