A few blue-sky, online ideas: A better system for fonts, for on-screen
representations, and methods of substitution for output to bitmap printers
and PostScript printers. A way to support arbitrary densities for bitmap
printers, so the output looks better on 24 pin printers. Something like
QuickDraw would be great. At least a text description of the minimum
elements of a file requester, of a font requester. I'm not sure how the Mac
does file requesters like this, is it just one call, or are you given some
freedom in setting up the gadget positions. Something like ResEdit, a
system for letting the users adjust the imagery for gadgets of an
application. Something like this could benefit both end-users and
programmers, who have had to rely on cumbersome things like Power Windows
to generate menus. Icons for everything on the Workbench the user needs to
get at, or at least some kind of mover utility to move fonts, libraries,
and drivers. Something like Browser, to get a text-only description of
files on the Workbench.
I think I'll start writing these up…
