Instead of downloading the file, there are two other methods of getting NEG and
or Emulsion settings if you have both macs and IBMs, before you set the lino to
the IBM port, down load the Mac version of the setmirror file (linotype will
supply you with these files free) etc. The other, is just set it on the top key
pad of the L300 itself. then after the setting is done, simply take your RIP
off line and switch it to the IBM port setting and bring it back on line. You
can of course create that little file and just download it (send it) to the
lino from the IBM. The cleanest way to do this really is to either use the
supplied file from Linotype, or just key it in at the L300 (which you can do
regardles of which port is active (ibm or mac, etc.). Linotype techs can show
you the simple three key stroke sequence to not only set emulsion, but neg/pos,
resolution, and right reading (mirror inverts), etc. quite simple, and also how
to take the L300 off line from via the L300 itself etc. The only danger is that
when you use this recorder mode the L300 is in a 43 status mode – and when you
are ready to cut the media always take the L300 off line so you can see the
status go from off line, to idle, and show ready/cut – otherwise if you do the
media advance etc while on-line it will always show 43 and the danger is
cutting the media more than once without advancing the media which results in
micro thin media strips, that will almost always jam up the recorder requiring
a tech service call to clear out. Let me know how you get it resolved? !!
