If you're writing PostScript code directly, the easiest way to create a hollow
letter is to define the text as a charpath and stroke it along the outline.
This will create a uniform-thickness outline rule, which may not be exactly the
look you want. If you want something more elegant–a style like Goudy
Handtooled, where the white center of the letters is asymmetric relative to the
outline–there's no quick-'n'-dirty way to make it. And I haven't seen Goudy
Handtooled in anybody's PostScript font library yet.
