Don't worry unnecessarily. There has been no promise–or even implied promise–of any changes to PostScript that would affect your ability to produce an image on your LaserWriter IINT that will correspond to the output of any other PostScript imagesetter. Indeed, Adobe has been quite insistent that PostScript will remain a true standard, and I have no reason to doubt them in this. The only enhancement to PostScript that requires a different or newer version of the interpreter is Kanji PostScript, which is available in Apple LaserWriters in Japan; Adobe has mentioned (but not yet delivered) a downloadable version of the Kanji PostScript code to be used on conventional LaserWriters.
