Rich, The EPS is a great machine. There's no contest between it and the Amiga's sampling capabilities (and at the cost of an A2000 there shouldn't be!). It has incredible power to manipulate sampled sound. It's a 16 bit machine (68000 based) . It has very clean sound-(sampling rate at up to 52.1 Khz (and just about anything lower). Ensoniq's claim is 96db dynamic range and frequency response of 20hz-20Khz +0, -3 dB. I think it's input filters are set on the liberal side and you tend to end up with mild hiss on samples with a lot of high frequency (I've been told that this is due to aliasing noise) which leads to a trip to the filter page (4 user setable filters, high or low pass in just about any combination you can think of). I don't like this much, as you know my primary interest is sampling sound effects, and with so many, I don't want to spend a lot of time tweaking, so I just encode everything with dbx. It's manipulative power is also it's weakness. You can do just about anything to a sample and it's auto looping function is great! (I've only encountered one "unloopable" sound and a good loop is usually had on the first or second attempt). It's biggest problem is that neither of it's manuals have an index! Ughh! There are about 150 actions you can perform and no @#%$! index! So, how do I like it? Well, I'm considering buying the rack mount version to compliment the keyboard. Barry
