Amiga and GVG100
Just wanted to pass on a quick tip to those video professionals using the
Amiga in a post house. While I was at NAB, I saw a piece of equipment by an
english company that allowed artists to generate switcher key mattes using
a paint type of program. They were charging 8 to 10 grand for this very
simple box that only output 8 colors (most key mattes only need 2 colors
for those of you who don't know). I got to thinking that the Amiga makes
would do a great job at cutting mattes for keying. So recently, I ran my
genlock output (progen) into my GVG 100 switcher ext. key input. By doing
some witcher tricks I was able to draw an outline around a live object,
fill the object, and generate a key signal. It works great! The moral of
all of this is that we need to remember that while the Amiga can do some
very sophisticated applications, it often can be just as helpful with
simple tasks.
