As a newly commissioned node holder on FidoNet and operator of a Skyline
BBS I am encountering serious problems with compatibility.
It is clear by reading the EchoMail in the Amiga Echo that Paragon is the
system of choice for use with Fido. What to do? The flexibility of
Skyline is something I have grown to love and respect. Unfortunately, the
effort vs results of using Skyline with Fido is unacceptable. This truly
breaks my heart because I fear that my membership in the Fraternity of
Skyline Sysops is about to come to an end.
Is the change to Paragon worth it? I have been bitten by the Fido bug
(dog??) and intend to keep the feature for myself and my BBS users. I
simply cannot manage to get the Skyline/Trapdoor/Conference Mail/Chamelion
Editor/FastPoint etc… to support full node operation.
How does Paragon compare to Skyline. Forget Skypix and other graphics
stuff. Does Paragon come Fido ready? Do I have to cluge in a bunch of
utilities? Does Paragon support Doors and ARexx? What about customization
of menus and access levels? Are there similar security measures available
like the High Security Password used in Skyline?
I found a message which outlined a BBS system called Dialog. The list of
features was quite impressive but they are still in Beta phase. Is there a
similar file describing Paragon? I know they have a BBS and I have tried
to call. They are in Connecticut and I am in Calif. I can't get through
in any event.
PLEASE!!! Someone help me with this. I have until Wednesday 31 Oct 90 to
make the decision.
