For SSTV, I use the AEA “AVT Master'', which is a commercial package. It just so happens that I designed it :^) and so I'm likely to be fairly predjudiced towards it. It's a very capable package, 55 SSTV modes and 9 FAX modes, bunches of features. There are PD enhancements out there too, many of them from a fellow in Washington whoose call I forget (hanging head in shame). Anyway, requires about 1.5 megs, really likes it if you have more, and the next version will want even more than that. But it's worth it – it really will do just about anything, ham-afsk-video wise. You can also use it for satellite work, with the addition of the “OverView'' board from OverView Systems in Florida. That's an AM to FM converter with all kinds of neat features like scanner control, tape deck control, synchronous track generation for stereo tape decks (uses a PLL to regenerate the clock, and the AVT can use this to maintain track with a wobbly tape signal on an otherwise synchronous sat signal). We don't sell either one; AEA in Lynnwood Wash. sells the AVT, it was just designed here, and we write the s/w for it. For packet, I am currently using our (beta level) Packet terminal program, which I think I can safely say is the ultimate last word in packet communications packages. Multiple connects in multiple windows, and a really nice list of other features. I think we're still looking at several months of testing on it, though, there are definitely things yet to be done. When it's out, it will be the only thing to use. In the interim, I'd suggest that you go to Lib 6 of AmigaVendor and D/l “CoComm'', which is (other than our beta system) the best term program available for packet. It has user-definable windows that allow nested definitions of FKEYS, using named buttons in a control panel which you can build into a complete mouse-driven packet controller. CoComm has more features of this type than any other terminal package, and many hams swear by it for packet use. As a telecomm program, it really only supports CIS [ MORE ]
