There are a lot of complaints that Visual Basic does not support
"pointers" or dynamic access to memory. In fact VB uses pointers
extensively internally. I have uploaded VBPTR.ZIP which contains a DLL that
has two functions relating to pointers. One will take a pointer and return
a VB string. This is useful if a DLL function retruns an LPSTR and you want
to convert it to a VB string. You can also use this function to create
things like MKI$ and BSAVE etc.
The other function is a generic memory copier. This will allow you
to create things like CVI, BLOAD, etc., as well as support huge arrays
without the use of the 20k DLL from MS. I wrote this because I needed a
way to walk through a NULL delimited string array, similar to the
environment table. The zip includes an example of doing this. Let me know
