[ continuation ] 6000 processor. Apple intends to make their high-end Mac's around this chip. A couple of things are noteworthy about this alliance. 1) It attempts to cut Microsoft's powerbase. 2) It challenges AT&T's Unix standard. 3) Apple is choosing to continue the Macintosh family into a new, high-end tier utilizing advanced technologies. 4) It allows software developers to write programs for the Risc 6000, regardless of whether they run on an IBM or Apple labelled machine.
