Ben, Well…let's see. Within 1 mile of our CPU we've got a phone switching office…and darn if the the computers used in 5ESS systems aren't UNIX boxes. Now…how many people use the phone? Oh yea…right across the street is the US Mint. A governement thingie…more than likely UNIX in there too. Humm.. DevCon was within a mile of our headquarters. Guess what…their reservation system (at Marriott) runs on Pyramid's running UNIX. Got a credit card…the AT&T Universal card perhaps? If so, then every time you use it…you're a UNIX user since the entire Universal card system is running on 2 Pyramids running UNIX. US West…a few miles away runs 90% of their stuff on UNIX boxes, that includes all their records, billing, word processing and so forth. Heck, even our Vet's office runs on a UNIX box. Your hospital may not use UNIX very much, but guess what our hospital uses? My *guess* is that within the metro area people that have contact with UNIX boxes in one way or another outnumber people that have contact with MS-DOS boxes by 2 to 1 or more. Now yes, there are probably lots more MS-DOS boxes out there, but at one user per MS-DOS box, and 10's or hundreds or thousands of users per UNIX b, the numbers add up very quickly. Don
