Don, I left Dupont last year and a very high percentage of "written" communication was via Email in our department (probably around 95%). However, it didn't seem to reduce paper consumption at all … in fact it probably increased significantly. EMail improved communication by eliminating transit times and making it easier for informal written communication. Paper consumption for the folks I worked with went up because the receiver usually printed what he got … and he got more stuff. Email improves effectiveness (significantly IMHO) but if somethinks they're saving trees, forget it. Computers are the best thing for the paper industry since toilet paper. Dan.
