Hi Joseph, You can pass command line parameters such as: X% = Shell("idea.bat param1 param2") If you look in the manual or query the online help for "Delcare", it will have some examples of how to declare an API/DLL (really the same thing). As far as how to declare a particualar function, you will have to find out the data types for the formal arguments to the dll, and then declare the VB equivelent.
