All newer CD-ROM models use caddies, however, they use the Sony standard,
not the Phillips standard. I may be wrong about that for multimedia, but
it's definitely Sony for CD-ROM — only Phillips uses Phillips caddies. The
only current drives that don't use caddies are protable ones, probably to
save on size and weight.
