Don– Your message hit a nerve with me, about knowing someone who bought a computer *strictly* on an ad…I don't think I exactly qualify, but I must come real close. I was looking for a computer that would be graphically oriented; this was in mid-1988. First, I started looking through the Computer Shopper, and realized that PC's weren't gonna do it. Then, I bought MacUser and the like, and realized that my pockets were way too shallow. Next magazine stop was STart/Antic; the ST512/1024 was a real contender for my computer bucks. I was all set to do an ST by mailorder (Lyco had the best prices at the time), but three things happened: The price on the ST series went way up (by about 30%), the price on an Amiga 500 series machine went down a tad (making it a direct ST competitor), and a friend showed me an Amiga magazine (AmigaWorld). I went into the dealer and made a cash deal with him a couple of days later. I knew it was the machine for me… Jonathan Jonathan – from Albany, NY, via whap!
