John, I need to be educated on the fundamentals and hope you can help? I have a JVC Gr-sz7 (SVHS) camcorder, a DPS-PAR, and a VHS VCR. (I plan on upgrading to a SVHS VCR in a few months. Noted from prior threads … Panasonic AG1970 / Sony LV-R1000.) Audio dubbing: My JVC manual says "only applicable to the longtudial audio track (normal audio). Hi-Fi audio track dubbing cannot be performed." Does this mean that the original sound on the 2 Hi-Fi channels will remain on the tape? Do you know if the JVC, by default, records only on the Hi-Fi channels leaving the Normal channel empty? Therefore, the only way to completely replace the audio will be to dub the original recording onto a new tape and mix the original sound out? Currently, I do "cuts-only" editing and mix(?) the sound manually using a Videonics sound effects mixer. It is very cumbersome. Actually, it's a mess trying to start/pause the recording VCR while syncronizing the PAR, a playing VCR's, a music tape player, and a microphone. Please Help! If i could put the video together first and then the audio on top, it would be easier. Is this possible without creating an additional generation (quality loss) of copy? Any other basic advice will be appreciated. Michael B.
