Given that the two machines are not compatibile trying to ride on the
coattails of the CD-I push could be fatal for Commodore. Consumers could
end up feeling really cheated if they get a CDTV machine and later find out
they are stuck with many fewer titles.
This might be the consumers own fault but most are not really going to
understand the difference between the two machines and may think they are
the same. This is a double edged sword, it could be good for Commodore
especially if they can undercut CD-I in price, but in the long run it could
also harm the company's reputation.
