Quite true, many ideas developed by PD/FreeWare/ShareWare authors were
later used in the OS and of course, some straight commercial stuff has
appeared there too.
While 2.x was definately a multi-person effort and many people both within
and outside C= itself deserve our thanks for their efforts at making 2.x a
solid OS, I believe that Bill Hawes can quite clearly be considered the
single most important person outside C= for his prodigious efforts to
improve AmigaDOS. His beta test efforts and bug reporting methods helped
to find problems that had been illusive for years.
