James,
I just got the GVP Series II Combo Board 2 weeks ago. One of my clients
got it for me in exchange for services rendered, so I don't have the exact
cost, but I believe the street price is about $1,800.
The board takes the place of 4 boards. It is a 68030 accellerator, SCSI
controller, and 2 memory boards.
I have the 33 MhZ version. It comes with 4-megs of 32-bit Ram, and can be
expanded to 16-megs. I have 8-megs. I am not using it as a HD controller,
because I couldn't mount my Quantum 210-meg HD to it. I'm using the
GrandSlam by IVS as a SCSI controller. GVP does offer an optional HD
bracket, but you can only use it with a low profile drive. The accellerator
is great. Super fast. No problems in 68030 mode.
The only problem I've had is when trying to use it in 68000 mode. The
boot68000 program doesn't recognize my HD when I boot in 68000 mode. GVP is
trying to solve the problem for me. They think there's a problem with the
board in that it's incompatible with my GrandSlam.
I hope this helps.
