I can't remember the details off hand, but I was told by the boss that PCL doesn't support all the things that PostScxIbt supports. I could be off on some of these, but I think a lot of the font stuff in PCL is pretty kindergarten compared to PostScript. It's fine for stuff like WordPerfect which pumps out nice lines of text at body text sizes, but when you start distorting text, using gradient fills, wierd halftone patterns (still on the wishlist), PCL just doesn't enter into the competition. You don't see Quark come rushing out with a PCL driver either for the same reason. XxD9PCL can't support these features. Thus the page must be sent as a bitmap. {_~rSure, it could support some basic features, but PgS can't look at the page and decide "hmmm, need to use a bitmap dload for this one." SL Tech
