Dennis: I use an aluminum that is really a metal shaded light gray with a
reflection map. I'm still not completely satisfied with it, but it looks OK.
I'm sure that you've noticed that different "shiny silver" metals look
different – the main difference being the exact color of gray that makes up
their base color.
I've really been amazed at how even a slight reflection map does wonders for
the metallic quality of a material.
What I need is a really good floor tile that shows the irregular bright shiny
reflections that you get because real time isn't flat! <g>
