dunno; call NEC. I can only repeat what I've heard from unnamed sources.
But with CD ROM drives, bugs can happen in the ROM (the drive's OS) or in
the driver (the controller that loads on your Mac) or both.
When I tested the CDR73 for MacWeek its performance was poor under system
7; though it was quite fast under System 6.07. ……… COD
