I talked to one of the users and she said that they had solved the
problem by swapping the drive. The new drives, also Hitachis, work fine.
Thanks for the information about the different models though, and
about the different versions of the drivers. It is awfully hard to keep up
with that type of information, even when you work in this field every day.
It must be even worse for the end users who just want to get on with their
work and forget about hardware. Imagine what it would be like if we all
had to be hardware experts to use a telephone!
Speaking of telephones, I usually have to deal with customer
problems over the telephone. My greatest frustration is just trying to
figure out what configuration he is using and how it is set up. It helps
if they can FAX us a copy of their CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files.
