David, Regarding your questioning of Kennedy's "Bosnia Portal." What I think Sanford was saying, when he said "no comment" is this: A Bosnia portal is an option. War is an option. I don't think he was seriously advancing an argument for the continuation of blood and gore. He was saying it is within the realm of all possibilities. War, death and destruction are a part of our existence. But we have within us the power to reject that option. His "no comment" should be construed as a construct for exploration and examination of our personal interests. The "war games" that mesmerize our children, who sit glassy-eyed with mouth agape shooting monsters by the second, teach reflex without thought. In the world they face, good reflexes are necessary. But I am instantly reminded of casualties caused by "friendly fire." The development of reflex games must be balanced with the development of cognition through thought provoking games of strategy and exploration such as those you have suggested. I really would like to think that Kennedy offered his comments for the purpose of being discredited. He is a sly strategist. His is the Charles Grodin approach to encouraging thought. Far better than I is he at this game. If he really believed that a Bosnia portal was desirable, it would be for the purpose of demonstrating man's inhumanity to man. And from that standpoint, it is worth contemplating. Such a sad statement we would make about the current state of world affairs. We could however thrust it in the face of everyone until we puke in utter disgust. If that's what it takes to motivate people to act to stop it, I could get behind it. However, I would not want to be one of the people who would have to spend months modeling and animating such a depressing and revolting subject. Kevin
