Unless you already own a lot of high end equipment, it will be alot
easier, and a lot less expensive to have a photolab do the compositing of
the images. (It might be different if the original images were computer
generated)
Use an Amiga titling program or even something like ProPage or PageStream
to create your text and output that to a postscript file (or color seps)
and have a service bureau output the titles to film negatives. Then you
could have the service bureau composite, via film, the slides and the
titles.
Hope this helps. I don't know if all the steps above are outlined
properly, but that's how I'd approach it, avoiding as many 'conversions'
as possible, and trying to maintain the high quality of the original
images.
