When you get 3DS, you'll get 14 sample IPAS applications with it, and the
manual explains what you can do with them. And as long as you send in the
IPAS card, you'll get on the list.
Regarding books on 3D animation… the Springer-Verlag catalog is full of
interesting books on the subject, and the ACM/Siggraph yearly technical
session compendiums are priceless.
