Hard to say. I see these disk compression utilities springing up all over the place, even here at Autodesk. And I hear rumor that the next version of DOS from Microsoft may have disk compression built in. But it still makes shake all over and anticipate the end of the world. 🙂 There have been a few cases where this sort of utility did manage to cause problems. I don't know why; the cases aren't many. Could be that the utility is just incompatible with some kinds of disk controllers. Try it without and see what happens.
