May I quickly jump in here, Dwight. Multimedia is something of a generic
term. In its simplest form it simply means more than one medium — ie: any
combination of text, graphics, audio, animation etc.
Games have been "multimedia" ever since the first that added bings and
bongs to whatever else was happening on the screen.
MPC is a registered trademark of the Multimedia PC Marketing Council Inc.
and was originally established by Microsoft -which obviously wanted Windows
to be an integral part of future "multimedia" products.
The cost of registering products with the Multimedia PC Marketing Council
is substantial, whether hardware or software. Some manufacturers don't wish
to spend their money that way, same with many disc publishers — especially
those with products that do not require Windows.
But their products still are "multimedia." Cheers!
