Here is a good one for you. A friend of mine just recently purchased a PPI 14400 Baud modem, and I have the Supra 14400 FaxModem. We have tried several times to connect with one another but without success. Now the carrier is detected at both ends, I get a 14400 CARRIER but no connect message. Also both of our modems tell us that we are not using Data Compression or error correction, which we should be. Now I can call every high speed BBS in town and connect with no problems, and so can he. Whenever we connect up with a BBS we get 14400 with compression & error correction, but for some reason we just can't get hooked up to each other. Another strange thing is that there is a IBM user that has the PPI modem that connects to my BBS and he doesn't have any problems. My friend and I have different Amiga's, I'm using a 3000 with 12megs and he has a 1000 with 8 megs. But what it seems to boil down to is that although we can get a 14400 carrier at each end, for some reason the modems don't want to use data compression or error correction between each other.
