#Faster math
Hi all,
I just wanted to tell everyone to go and take a look at a nifty little
program called FMATH.LHA here on CIS. It's absolutely great if you have
math intensive applications and a fast processor like a 68040 or a math
copro like 68882.
This FMATH.LHA contains replacements for your math libraries, which are
significantly faster and smaller than the original libs. I'm always wary
of such programs because the machine usually gets much less stable and the
speed increase is almost zero, but this is the exception to that rule!
The author also included small benchmarks, here are the totals for my
68040 at 33 MHz…
Using C= math libs Using FMATH libs
mathdoubtranstest approx. 88 seconds approx. 46 seconds
mathsingtranstest approx. 66 seconds approx. 45 seconds
mathtranstest approx. 102 seconds approx. 53 seconds
I think the numbers speak for themselves. Get it!
